I went to my local Blockbuster recently to try out Timesplitters 2. On the box it says that "The spiritual successor
to Goldeneye!". So as I get ready try it to see if it really is the successor to Goldeneye. It is.
You play two space marines who storm a base of group of aliens called timesplitters. As you storm the base to recover
time crystals(which their value is not really revealed in the game), they send several of their own to hoard these crystals
in different time periods. Your job is to retrieve the crystals and escape the base.
The controls are flawless and feel natural. There are a lot of different locations and weapons at your disposal. The
sound on this game is decent and everything sounds right.Multiplayer is addictive and you can even play without your
friends with bots. You can even make your own maps with customizable lights! The mapmaker allows you to: place weapons, powerups,
and various objects for different modes of play.
The graphics on this game are mediocre along with the story. You get no backstory on the characters which
would have helped. When you are shooting someone, your gun appears to have no one holding it!
Overall, this is the best first-person shooter I have played in a while. The graphics and story are average, but
can be overlooked. This is the true successor to Goldeneye.
