Mystique has been around for at least for a year now. I've always wanted to check it out,but never got around to doing
it. Yet, when Marvel announced that Sean McKeever was going take over, I was excited. So was it any good?
For those of you who aren't in the know, Mystique is the blue-skinned mutant that you may have seen in the X-Men movies.
In the comic, she is a spy for Xavier. For doing this, she receives protection from her foes. However, a man called Shepard,
who works for "The Quiet Man", has promised freedom from Xavier if she spies on him. But now to this issue's plot.
Derma Free, a major skin care company, has just found a superficial cure to psoriasis. The company now says that,
in a few weeks, that they can cure all skin conditions. However, there are rumors that Dermafree is testing on mutants. Mystique
is sent by Xavier to see if these rumors are true.
First off, the art in this comic is beautiful! Manuel Garcia really shows off in this comic. Mckeever, as always, shows
off some great dialogue in this book and makes the characters believable. The only problem with this book is that it doesn't
try to stand out.
Overall, McKeever has done a fine job. He offers some great dialogue, along with García's pencils, Mystique is looking
pretty good. I just wish that the comic could have had an extra layer of polish. This comic receives 4* out of 5*.
