Several months ago, I was getting into the new Spectacular Spiderman series. Eventually, I stopped buying the comic.
Then Marvel announced that a stand-alone tale, fully-painted, was going to be released. So I decided to check it out, after
all, it's just one issue right?
Joey Beal's life is not like most. He was born with Cerebral Palsy and is unable to communicate with the world around
him. One day, on his rooftop, Joey catches a glimpse of Spiderman. But why was Spiderman there anyway?
Paolo Rivera shows clear and fluid art which is no less than stunning. With a comic book, which features painted art,
the real star here is Paul Jenkins. Jenkins clearly displays the thoughts and motivations for these characters in a believable
manner. He also shows the reader that just because Joey can not communicate to the rest of the world, does not necessarily
mean that Joey does not have thoughts of his own.
Overall, Paul Jenkins and Paolo Rivera have created a masterpiece. With great art and believable dialogue, this comic
is a treasure. Look for Paolo Rivera's name to be mentioned in the future. This comic receives 5* out of 5*
