NFL Street is a football game that features only the bare essentials of football. These rules include: 4 downs and 6
points for a touchdown. However, the game also adds a score system to a certain point amount (style or regular football score
system). There also 3 different playing choices: pick up game (where random players are chosen and you and your
opponent choose), quick game (where all of the NFl teams and unlocked teams are available to choose before playing a game)
and NFL Challenge (where you: create your own team with their own playing styles, battle against other teams, and complete
challenges). Beyond these play modes, there are also different options to choose.
When playing NFL Street, you may notice that the game has you doing one thing:style. The game rewards you when you perform
moves with a little style. You can do most of the moves by holding the L button and pressing a button relating to what you're
doing. For performing these style moves sucessfully, you then receive style points. Along with the style points, there is
also a bar which if full, gives the player a gamebraker. This ability gives the player a faster, stronger player which is
more likely to score a touchdown or force a fumble, than a normal player. When playing this game, it really feels like you're
playing football in an open area with your friends. There's even an option to play with you and a friend. And let's not forget
the fact that the game will auto-save for you.
The NFL Challenge, which is the heart of the game, is done quite well. The challenges are a little difficult, but
not extremely difficult (and yes, the game was on easy). When creating a team, you get a variety of options at your disposal.
You can choose the logo, name and uniform colors for your team. Also, there are plenty of options when it comes to the appearance
and skills of your player. To unlock more stadiums and opponents, you must first defeat the five opponents of an NFL division.
Once completed, you then receive points to access challenges. These challenges will present a goal like score 10 points in
5 min. or complete 2 passing TDs. in a game to 40. If you complete these challenges, you then receive more create-a-player
points, players from other teams, or clothes with special properties.
The graphics on this game are quite good. From the ice to the water effects, this game looks great. Also, the sound on
this game manages to be good as well. All of the detailed sound effects and the street-based soundtrack, this game sounds
great.
NFL Street is a great game, but there are also some problems. When editing a created player, you can't take away points
already spent and move them to another skill. When you leave the ladder option of the NFL Challenge to try the challenge mode
of a division, the game will erase all of your victorys against those opponents. There are no options on the pause screen
to view a replay, let only have the ability to zoom-in,rewind, fast-foward, camera angle, and player follow to choose during
the replay.
Overall, NFL Street is a fun football game for those who don't like to play the simulation-like football games that are
out now. This game is gives the player solid gameplay with great graphics and sound. However, this game lost me with some
problems. None the less, this game is a blast to play. This game receives 4.5* out of 5*
