It's the last issue in the series, but is it any good?

I'm not going to lie to you, when Avengers 500 came out, I thought it was okay. However, the past few issues have been bad. So, when Avengers 503 came out, I didn't have a lot of hope. Was the comic any good?

Over the past few issues, the Avengers have faced it all. From random attacks, injured team members, to a few of their own dead, the Avengers have had a hard time. So what does the appearance of Doctor Strange mean and what does he know that our heroes do not?

First off, I must complement Brian Michael Bendis for a job well done. Not only has he provided solid character moments, but has mixed in some great action as well. And at the end, the villain's motives make sense. David Finch provides some solid art with great attention to detail. And let's not forget the nice montage half-way through the comic, with images from past Avengers comics.

I wish there were only positive things about this comic, but there are also some negative things that got on my nerves. First, I have no idea why a clip from an old Stan Lee and Jack Kirby comic would show up at the end. It has nothing to do with the events in this comic and makes for a bad ending to a great comic. On top of that, why is Magneto in this comic?

Overall, Bendis and Finch have created a great tale. With a solid story and great art, this comic is awesome. However, some confusion in this comic prevents it from being great. This is one of Bendis' greatest works as a writer. This comic receives 4.5* out of 5*
