Over the years, JLA: The Nail seemed
to be one of those stories that I was missing out on. However, with that in mind, I never really gave it a try. That all changed
when I recently got a hold of a copy at my local library. So, was it worth the time?
What happens in a world where Superman
is not present? Well, you have fear and hatred for the world’s metahuman population. With strange incidents occurring
across the world, what could be the cause?
First off, Alan Davis does a great job
with the story. He throws in twists and turns yet manages to make the characters seem believable. Not only does he write the
plot, but Davis
draws the comic as well. He brings a classic vibe to his story and it works well.
On the downside, though the characters
are believable, you really don’t care for them as much. And though the plot remains solid throughout the comic, some
bits of the story for a tad bit off. To top it off, some might be confused by parts of the plot.
Overall, Davis
crafts a great story. It is filled with a great story and some fantastic art to boot. However, some problems with the story
keep it from reaching the story’s potential. Give this graphic novel a shot. This comic receives 4* out of 5*
