Wow! That was my reaction to the
last issue's surprise ending. With one of the best cliffhangers that I have ever read, this issue of Runaways had a to finish strong.
After all, there's only one more issue after this before the relaunch. So when I bought this comic at my local comic book
store, would it meet expectations?
In the last issue, the Runaways attacked their parents, who are waiting to present a sacrifice for the Gibborim. Everything
was looking okay......until the mole revealed themself. Now with the mole discovered, can the remains of the Runaways stop
the sacrifice and make it out alive?
Once again, Brian K. Vaughan delivers the goods. He manages to create a great plot with more twists and turns than a
roller coaster! Yet, is able to make his characters believable with nice dialogue that is peppered with little details,
and then on top of that, gives you some great characterization that follows the flow of the characters very well. And on top
of this, Adrian Alphona manages to fit the story well. Assisting Alphona, is the rest of the art team, whose contributions
really make the comic. To be honest, the really are no problems than the fact that there is only more comic before the long
break that the creators are taking.
To recap, Vaughan+Alphona=great comic! Brian K. Vaughan is doing a great job and manages to keep his focus on what makes
these characters great. And let's not forget Alphona and the rest of the art team for doing a great job following Vaughan's
script so well. Sadly, one more issue before that break, though. This comic receives 5* out of 5*
